We’re now at the halfway point of this story. Crazy Cal Gets A Job looks like it’s going to be nearly as long as Charlie Croc was. This site has run four comics so far. Two of them (Barn Owl and Snow Monkey Patrol) have been rather short and the other two have run much longer.
I’m beginning to think about the next story and wondering about it’s length. And I was wondering, what do you prefer? Longer stories have more space to move around, explore, and develop characters. But Short stories give you a dose of fun without waiting half a year for the ending.
So vote below, and let me know what you think…

I liked Charlie Croc the best, and short format. Big 1000 page epics turn me off; I don’t do archive binges, I read too many comics as it is 😀
Thanks for the vote, DJ. It seems like most of my fans liked Charlie Croc best. I’m definately going to bring him back for another mystery sometime soon. And I have no plans to do any 1000 page epics. Actually, I don’t have any plans at the moment for even 100 page epics. That’s a lot of drawing, and I have so many other ideas I want to get out.
Actually, I like both short and long stories…maybe you could go every other one, long, short, long, etc….?
That’s not a bad idea. Since the vote is 50-50 right now, I guess that’s what a lot of people want.
Rob, do what ever it takes to tell the story that’s in your head. So far you’ve done both, and I’ve enjoyed both. I really like Charlie Croc because he’s a throwback to the Raymond Chandler type of stories, but with a dose of Looney Toons thrown in. It’s a little parody, a little homage and a whole lot of fun.
BTW, I’m 56 and grew up with DC back in the 60′ and 70’s. My favorite web comics include the Dreamer, Abominable Charles Christopher, Guns of Shadow Valley, Planes of Eldor (all amazing artwork) and Endtown (more whimsical, like your stuff.) Do what you feel most comfortable with. If you’re happy, then we’ll be happy.
