I’m sorry to say that my busy workload has kept me from completing this week’s page. It’s going to be a great page, though. Check it Monday for the next exciting installment.

You might have noticed I missed an update this week. Sorry about that, but I’ve been incredibly busy promoting my new picture book “Kansas Jayhawks ABCs and 1-2-3s.” In fact, I’m going to be on the radio talking about it this Thursday morning! If you’re in the Kansas City area, you can hear it on KCMO 94.9 FM at 7:15 a.m.
And, if you’re interested, you can buy my book on Amazon at this link:
Firstly, I’m very sorry to announce that Crazy Cal Presents will be on hiatus for the next few weeks. My paying workload has gotten a little overwhelming and I need to get it cleared away before I can concentrate on concluding the Quest for the Cloud Castle (and it’s gonna be a great ending). Expect a return on October 31.
Speaking of hiatus, my disappearance last December and January was to do a project I was illustrating and is finally now available. It’s the Knowji Vocab App for the iPhone and iPad. It’s a gret game for learning vocabulary words, and each word comes with a full color cartoon illustration by me! I just wish I had an iPhone so I could play, too. More information is available at http://www.knowji.com/
And finally, if you have an iPad, Kindle, or even a regular old computer, don’t miss out on the Crazy Cal Gets a Job e-book. It’s available at http://theillustratedsection.com/crazy-cal-gets-a-job and is on special this month for only $.99 ! This is a mildly revised and updated version from what originally appeared on the website. And it’s in a convenient e-book form, so you can take it with you and read anywhere. Trust me, you don’t want to miss a bargain this good.
So read a comic, learn some vocabulary, and come back Oct 31 for more fun with Sir Reginald and his squire as the continue their quest to rescue the Princess!
There’s no comic this week. Work responsibilities have kept me from completing another page.
But I don’t want to leave you without something to look at today, so here is a rare behind the scenes look at “Quest for the Cloud Castle.”
When I design a character for my comics or children’s book work, I usually do a bunch of sketches before I”m happy with the character. This is the first and only sketch I did for Sir Reginald. In my original notes, I had planned on having a tall, handsome knight as the lead character. But then this guy came out nearly fully formed. Before I he appeared in the comic, I had eliminated the weird belt across his chest, and lengthened his legs (which I now wonder if I should have kept him this short). But otherwise, this sketch determined the character.
Be back here next week for the continuation of the comic.
